The Centenarian Diet: Living to be 100+

While there isn’t any one diet that will help you live past 100, centenarians’ diets do have some commonalities.  Key features of the Centenarian diet include eating foods high in fibre and minerals, but low in fat, protein, and total energy; eating fewer calories per day and eating until satisfaction (not eating until stuffed or full); and eating lots of fresh, unprocessed foods including lots of vegetables (especially dark green leafy vegetables), soy, legumes (beans and lentils), fish, sweet potatoes, and green tea.  Few centenarians are obese, and some studies suggest that centenarians can handle stress better than others.  Great genetics also obviously play a part to living to 100+; at least half of centenarians have close relatives who have also lived to a very old age.

Wishing you health & happiness,
