2013 Canada East Regionals – Day 2

CrossFit London athlete and NutritionRx dietitian Jennifer Broxterman continued to climb in the rankings on day 2 at the 2013 Canada East Regionals!  At the end of day 2, she now sits in 13th position overall, with the possibility to finish in the top 10 by the end of the 3-day competition.

WOD4: 100’s (25 minute time cap)
-100 wall ball (14 lb / 20 lb at 10 feet)
-100 chest-to-bar pullups
-100 pistols
-100 dumbbell snatch (50 lb / 70 lb)

This workout can only be described as a brutal blood bath.  The chest-to-bar pullups proved to be tough for many of the top competitors, but did not seem to faze Jennifer.  After executing her plan to slow and steadily chip through all 100 pullups in sets of 3, Jen was the first girl off the pullup bars and maintained her lead as she plowed through 100 pistols and 49 dumbbell snatches by the time cut-off, comfortably winning her heat.  Her score proved to hold up against the top heat of women, and she finished WOD4 in 7th place, bumping Jen up to 12th place in the overall competition and seeding her in the top heat of athletes alongside Camille Leblanc-Bazinet and Michelle Letendre.

WOD5: 21-15-9 (8 minute time cap)
-deadlifts (205 lb / 315 lb)
-box jumps (24” / 30”)

This workout was short, sweet, and heavy.  Jen finished in 26th on WOD5, with a time of 6:20 minutes.  This was approximately 1 minute faster than she went in practice the week before, which was a big personal improvement!  Although she was hoping for an even better time and ranking, given that she did 49 dumbbell snatches only hours before and had shredded both hands on the chest-to-bar pullups, Jen held up well and finished in 13th place overall in the Canada East Regional at the end of Day 2.
